What to Watch For at the DIAA Indoor Championships

Boys

55m

Howard Tech's Edwin Rosembert will head to the DCIAA meet on a three-event quest to take home top honors. This race will be one of the closest, with Dover's John Rodel Castro (6.59) and Alexis I. Dupont's Lewis Kungu (6.59) battling out Rosembert (6.5) for first place.

55m hurdles

It's a two-man race, with Dover's Tayshaun Chisolm (7.89) and Caesar Rodney's Jared Keaton (7.99) separated by just a hundredth of a second.

200m

William Penn's Mike Mills (21.94) has one of the fastest seed times and holds Delaware's #1 time, but Rosembert will look to add another title here as well. He enters with a top time of 22.03 seconds.

400m

Rosembert's speciality is in the quarter, where he enters with a top seed of 49.67 seconds. His teammate, Brandon Justin, will follow in a seed time of 50.04 seconds.

800m

Howard Tech's Ian Chege enters in MileSplit's rankings as the top Delaware time of 1:57.75, while Mount Pleasant's Johnelle Joe is second in 1:59.00.

1600m

Mount Pleasant's Joe will look to double here with a seed time of 4:30.21, while Appoquiniminak's Vail Reed should follow close behind in a seed of 4:31.99. Tatnall's Brendan Balthis should feature in this race as well.

3200m

Appoquiniminak's Reed has the best time entering with a sub-10 9:52.21, while St. Andrews' Alex Horgan (10:06.07) will look to dip below 10 minutes. Balthis, yet again, could feature in this race.

Relays

Howard Tech's US #2 time in the 4x400m (3:22.51) will line up as the best in the state, while Alexis I. Dupont (1:33.42) and Delcastle (1:33.73) will duke it out for top honors in the 4x200. Tatnall (8:06.55) and Salesianum School (8:03.65) should figure into top honors in the 4x800.

Triple Jump

Perhaps in the most crowded field, William Penn's Miles Duncan heads into the field as the seed lead in 45-11.5. Mount Pleasant's Malachi Davis (45-7), St. Georges Tech's Zahki McCray (45-6) and Appoquiniminak's Tre Johnson (45-5) could make a run for the title as well.

Long jump

William Penn's Duncan has a good chance to double here, with a top seed of 22-5.5, while Alexis I. Dupont's John Bailey could challenge with a seed of 21-11.5.

High jump

Little competition finds Lake Forest's Isaiah Morris, who enters with a top height of 6-6.

Pole Vault

Alexis I. Dupont's Shemar Parker (12-3) and Caesar Rodney's Luke Knack (11-9) should find good competition between each other.

Shot put

Lake Forest's Cameron Lewis (48-8) and Salesianum School's John Cahill (45-9.75) are the top two seeds in this event.
