Dendy leads Padua to team victory at Madric Invitational

 

Freshman Maiya Dendy won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and anchored the winning 4x200-meter relay team as Padua earned the girls team title at the Art Madric Hall of Fame Invitational track and field meet on Saturday at Caravel.

Padua's Natalie Kowalski won the long jump, and the Pandas also took the 4x800-meter relay. Other Delaware winners in the girls competition were Howard's Myra Wanamaker (400), Sussex Tech's Briana Hall (100 hurdles) and Castaysha Lewes (triple jump), Concord's Stephanie Floyd (300 hurdles), Caravel's Marissa Wallendorf (pole vault), Charter of Wilmington's Alexia Troise (shot put) and Gabrielle Troise (discus) and Howard's 4x400-meter relay team.

Glasgow's Leshon Collins won the boys 100- and 200-meter dashes, and ran the opening leg on the Dragons' winning 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams.

Other Delaware winners among the boys were Howard's Lamar Bruton (400), Caravel's Connor Szwetkowski (3,200), Brandon Stacy (pole vault) and Cameron Clark (discus), Sussex Tech's Darren Beckett (110 hurdles) and Charter of Wilmington's Mark Diguglielmo (shot put).

Ridley (Pa.) took the boys team title, followed by Archbishop Ryan (Pa.). Sussex Tech was the top Delaware finisher in third.
