Ah, I love the smell of a good ol' fashioned free electoral system in the morning. While I did not create this poll, I am happy to see others here on MileSplit standing up for what it means to be an American. I would like to leave a passage from our own Declaration of Independence so as to emphasize the need for measures such as this:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."

MileSplit, you see, is an oppressive regime. It is one whose powers are derived not from the consent of the users, but from the selfish and fleeting desires of one power-hungry admin. It is therefore our right (NAY our duty!) to dismantle this autocracy by striking at its very heart. We must follow the example of Hercules' second labor, removing the heads of the MileSplit-Hydra one by one, beginning here and now with adeyabo. Friends, if elected, I promise to treat the members of this site with the respect and compassion that they rightfully deserve. No more will an admin darken the doorway of every forum post, of every article comment, waiting for a flimsy pretext to delete it and ban the poster. This site will be returned to its true glorious purpose: to provide a free arena for the runners of the First State to share thoughts and ideas. So, my friends, I prithee: vote! And let your voice be heard! Because, to quote Benjamin Franklin, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety".

StevePrefontroll is without a doubt the man for the job. I think i speak for all milesplit users when i say we are tired of being kept in the dark from the tyrannical admins that run this site. They think they can filter what we talk and think about! Well i say nay! Today we have an oppurunity today that many do not have over courses of entire lives. My fellows users we have a chance to overthrow the nazi regime of milesplit! Seize the day my brothers and sisters, you have a chance to make a difference. Prefontroll is one of us. He can lead us out of the dark and into the promised land, for once the road ahead is bright but we can rewrite the milesplit forums as we go, as WE see fit, however WE like it. Do not pass up this chance. If Prefontroll were too lose and we are kept in dark abyss the worst feeling will be to say "I stood bye and watched as the corrupt leaders of milesplit beat down all we have worked towards."

For those speculative of the authenticity of this poll, I have coordinated this poll with the National Committee of Amateur Polling and Vote Keeping. This third-party associate will make sure the results are unbiased and the voting itself is regulated with the utmost care.

I wish both candidates luck and encourage their campaigns to reach out into social networks including but not limited to Sonico, Viadeo, and Plurk in order to increase voter turnout.

In lieu of a traditional face-to-face debate between the candidates, I encourage a formal web-chat to take place and then a link to be placed in this post so the voters can see the true and uncensored sides of their soon-to-be elected officals.

Personally, I believe the Summer of 2011 will go down in history end of the Totalitarian Era and the beginning of the New Age of Light, staring the one and only Steve PrefontTroll.

Threatening these voters with banishment from Delaware milesplit is not the right course of action. First and foremost, it only proves your oppressive nature. Secondly, banishment has never been good for anyone as demonstrated by numerous historical accounts. Take a look at the box office smash Thor for example (based on a true story). When Odin banished Thor from Aasgard, Loki was able to assume rule of the realm. He not only betrayed his brother Thor, but he also allowed the Frost Giants to enter and attempt to steal the Frost Giant power casket. Matters were only worsened when he decided to send a giant robot to Earth to destroy the almighty Thor. After taking a vicious backhand from said giant robot, Thor was left battered and bruised. It was in his weakest moment, as he was being held by a crying Natalie Portman, that the mighty hammer returned to Thor and he rose up and struck down the giant robot. From there Thor was transported back to Aasgard thanks to Heimdall the gatekeeper and he managed to reclaim the realm. I hope the admin will take something from this story as it offers much wisdom. I thank all who have voted and posted for their continued, unwavering support. It is your steadfast belief in the power of democracy that will truly win the day. It is regrettable, however, that this thread has dissolved once more into threats of banishment from MileSplit as punishment for exercising our right of free and peaceable assembly. I urge you to look to the example of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on this matter. What if someone had told him that he was not allowed to hold peaceful rallies in order to enact change? What if he had faced even half of the adversity that I have been met with here on the forums of DE MileSplit? We would be living in quite a different country, I can guarantee you.

I implore all here to spread the news of this controversial vote in order to garner more support for our noble cause.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that MileSplit is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.

It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, mid-distance and sprinter, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled. Users who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of forum posts and article comments.

We are, and always will be, the DE MileSplit.

It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment change has come to MileSplit.

@adeyabo You made quite a mistake. Take for instance the movie Signs. When Mel Gibson calls a vote to decide whether he and his family should stay at home or travel to a water source to evade the aliens, he decides to put the matter to vote. He quickly finds himself in the minority, and decides that he will cheat and say his vote counts as two. This leads to a rather obscene outcry from his son (words that I will not utter here). So you see, saying your vote counts for 1,000 will only bear the negative consequence of your son (DE Milesplit in this case) lashing out at you.

Adeyabo, you think you have won but the community seems to be singing quite a different tune. From what I can see from the substantial voter turnout, I have won in landslide fashion. If you refuse to surrender power, my disciples and I will have no choice but to launch a coup to overthrow your oppressive regime. This will undoubtedly be cause for unnecessary bloodshed that you can easily avoid. You need only turn over the keys to MileSplit and this transition will go smoothly. To quote Jedi Master Luke Skywalker: "You can either profit by this or be destroyed. It's your choice, but I warn you not to underestimate my power."
