DSU?s ARMSTRONG SETS TRIPLE JUMP RECORD AT MORGAN STATE MEET

Dover, Del. (Apr. 22, 2013) --- Delaware State University's Amir Armstrong (so.) established a new Hornet outdoor record in the triple jump at the Morgan State Legacy Meet last weekend. Armstrong took first place in the event with a top leap of 14.95 meters (49-feet.75-inches), topping the previous DSU outdoor record  of 48-11.50 by Winston Adams in 1981.

Delaware State's Ryan Carter (sr.) was tops among all collegiate runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.09 seconds, just ahead of runner-up Brycen Spratling of Pittsburgh (21.20 sec.).

Carter also helped lead the Hornets to a second place finish in the 1600-meter relay. He teamed with Tyquan Brown, Kevaughn Laviea and Stephen Bowe to post a time of three-minutes-14.24 seconds, less than a second behind first place Pittsburgh (3:13.71).

Bowe was also sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.70 seconds, while Laviea was clocked at 55.50 seconds to finish eighth in the 400-meter hurdles.
