Greensboro, N.C. (May 4, 2013) --- Delaware State University's Ryan Carter earned two individual titles at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships today.
Carter captured the MEAC championship in the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.54 seconds, currently the fifth best time in the nation this outdoor season (according to NCAA.com).
He also claimed the conference title in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 46.74 seconds in the championship race.
Each first place finish by Carter earned 10 points for Delaware State in the team standings.
Carter also ran the first leg of the Hornets' MEAC third-place 4x400 meter relay team. He teamed with Donell Taylor, Kevaughn Laviea and Stephen Bowe to post a time of 3:13.21. DSU collected six points for the third place relay finish.
Laviea also collected five points for the Hornets with his fourth place showing in the 400-meter hurdles. He was clocked at 52.65 seconds in the championship. DSU's Charles Wulff-Cochrane was sixth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.62 seconds.
Delaware State's men also received three points for sixth place finishes by Marko Kano in the javelin (55.78 meters) and Amir Armstrong in the triple jump (14.56 meters). DSU's Christopher Williams was seventh in the triple jump (14.38 meters) to earn two points for the Hornets.
Delaware State was tied with Savannah State for eighth place in the final team standings with 47 points. Hampton captured the MEAC men's outdoor championship with 119 points.
In the women's competition, Delaware State's Ketsia Dornevil was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.36. to earn five points for the Hornets.

DSU's Janae Wilson was fifth in the long jump with a top leap of 5.66 meters.
The Hornet women also collected one point for eighth place performances by T'Nay Williams in the 3000-meter steeplechase (12:17.24) and Morgan Durham in the javelin (32.15 meters).
Delaware State was 12th in final MEAC women's standings with 11 points. Hampton captured the championship with 123 points.
