Kira Lindner Earns USATF-NY Award For NY#6 All-Time Throw

Like with Nicholas Pisciotta earlier in the week, several key athletes in the Empire State have been gravitating towards the Hammer Throw in the Summer of Missed Opportunities. One of those athletes is Kira Lindner (Greeley), who was the reigning Discus State Champion in 2019, and a heavy favorite to repeat that performance in 2020. Without a State Meet to compete in, Lindner turned to the Hammer.

Competing in the New York Hammer Summer Series, Lindner threw a personal best in the 4th Edition of the Series. Using the 4kg weight, the traditional High School implement, Lindner put one out to 52.43m (172-00.25). It was a personal best by nearly twenty feet. The mark now makes her the 6th furthest thrower in New York State History, and the Section 1 Record Holder for the event. The previous record had been held by Jannah Sharpe (Mt. Vernon) set in 2018 at 161-9.

For her efforts, Lindner was awarded the Open Division USATF-NY Athlete of the Month for July. The full press release can be found at the following address.
