DSU 1600-METER RELAY TEAM EARNS ALL-AMERICA STATUS

College Station, Tex. (Mar. 12, 2010) --- The Delaware State University men's indoor 1600-meter relay team has earned All-America status after a seventh place finish in the NCAA championships at Texas A&M University this evening.

The Hornet team of Tariq Devore, Leslie Murray, Ryan Carter and Donte Holmes posted a time of 3-minutes-7.77 seconds in the 4x400-meter national championship race.

Texas A&M took first place with a time of 3:04.24. The top eight finishers are recognized as All-America teams.

Delaware State finished ahead of No. 8 LSU (3:08.01), No. 9 Florida State (3:08.17) and No. 10 Florida (3:15.77) in the NCAA championship race.

The Hornets qualified for the NCAA nationals after posting a school-record time of 3:06.98 at the IC4A championships in Boston, Mass., last weekend.    

Delaware State also captured its second straight MEAC indoor championship in the 1600-meter relay last month.
