Delaware high school track and field athletes recorded multiple personal bests at the DIAA Track & Field Championships on May 15.
Scarlett Russell (Conrad Schools of Science) ran 11:44.35 in the girls' 3200 meters, improving from her previous best of 12:08.83. The junior ranks #16 in Delaware and #3 among juniors in the state, finishing 11th of 30 competitors. Russell also set personal records in the 1600 meters (5:28.52, previous 5:35.24) and 800 meters (2:26.30, previous 2:27.28) at the same meet.
Barack Johnson (Lake Forest) threw 46-0 in the boys' shot put, bettering his previous mark of 43-5 set in May 2026. The junior placed 9th of 45 competitors and ranks #13 in Delaware and #4 among state juniors.
Benjamin Moody (Sussex Academy) clocked 9:58.29 in the boys' 3200 meters, dropping from his previous best of 10:11.21. Moody finished 16th of 31 competitors and ranks #21 in the state.
Jada Walker (Howard Tech) ran 12.54 in the girls' 100 meters, improving from 12.76. The freshman placed 13th of 42 competitors and ranks #15 in Delaware and #2 among state freshmen.
Chynna Williams (Odessa) ran 16.00 in the girls' 100m hurdles, bettering her previous mark of 16.30. The senior's time set a school record and ranks #10 in Delaware and #6 among state seniors, placing 7th of 31 competitors.
Da'Shawn Withers (William Penn) ran 50.65 in the boys' 400 meters, improving from 51.60. The sophomore finished 19th of 43 competitors and ranks #32 in Delaware and #5 among state sophomores.
Riley Robinson (Middletown) clocked 10.67 in the boys' 100 meters, dropping from his previous best of 10.85. The freshman finished 2nd of 43 competitors and ranks #2 in Delaware and #1 among state freshmen.
