Delaware high school athletes posted personal bests across multiple events at the DIAA Meet of Champions on May 20.
Michael Simmons (Tatnall) ran 9:21.51 in the boys' 3200 meters, improving from his previous best of 9:39.33. The freshman finished second among 13 competitors and ranks #6 in the state and #1 among Delaware freshmen.
Emerson Guerke (Ursuline Academy) clocked 11:11.41 in the girls' 3200 meters, bettering her previous mark of 11:19.19. The junior placed fourth of 11 runners and sits #6 in Delaware and #1 among state juniors.
Paige Hills (Wilmington Christian School) posted 11:42.05 in the girls' 3200 meters, dropping from her previous best of 11:49.74 set in May 2026. The sophomore finished seventh of 11 competitors and ranks #17 in the state and #7 among Delaware sophomores.
Talan Gerardi (Lake Forest) ran 4:15.55 in the boys' 1600 meters, improving from 4:18.93. The senior placed second of nine runners, set a Lake Forest school record, and ranks #5 in Delaware and #4 among state seniors.
Elijah Shockley-Taylor (Cape Henlopen) ran 14.92 in the boys' 110-meter hurdles, improving from 15.11. The senior finished fourth of eight competitors and ranks #13 in the state and #12 among Delaware seniors.
Mariyah Riggins (Hodgson Vo-Tech) clocked 25.25 in the girls' 200 meters, bettering her previous mark of 25.48. The junior placed fourth of six runners, set a Hodgson Vo-Tech school record, and ranks #7 in Delaware and #1 among state juniors.
