Hora & Steele Named All-East Region After Strong Showing at Regionals

Sophomore Whitney Hora and junior Bill Steele earned NCAA All-East Region Cross-Country Honors after their performances at the NCAA East Regional Meet at Winter Park Place.

Hora, placed seventh, finishing the course in 23:09, and helped the Lady Wildcats to an 11^th place finish.  Freshman Althea Davidson was 36^th, crossing the line in 24:11, while senior Danielle Riley was 65^th, finishing in 24:55.  Senior Brittany Anthony (87^th, 25:27) and sophomore Jeanette Halliburton (107^th, 25:57) rounded out the scorers for Wilmington.

Steele, finished 14^th, as he completed the course in 32:12, helping the Wildcats to a 17^th place showing.  Freshman Richie Mitten was 68^th, finishing in 34:23, while senior Jeff Sammons placed 117^th in a time of 36:17.  Senior Austin Knight (120^th, 36:22) and freshman Matt Mossman (121^st, 36:27) rounded out the finishers for the ‘Cats.

The duo became just the second NCAA All-Region runners in program history, joining Danielle Burcham, who accomplished the feat in both 2008 and 2009.
