HORNETS OPEN INDOOR SEASON AT NAVY LID-LIFTER

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Delaware State University men's indoor track and field team kicked off their season Saturday afternoon at the Navy Lid-Lifter Invitational, held at the Wesley Brown Fieldhouse, and earned five top ten finishes on the day.

Junior Edward Hurley (Virginia Beach, Va.) had the highest finish on the day for the Hornets with his third place time of 22.19 in the 200-meter dash.  Senior teammate Tariq Devore (New York, N.Y.) placed ninth overall with a time of 22.45.

Devore and junior Kevaughn Laviea (Dover, Del.) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with times of 50.01 and 51.98.

Freshman Amir Armstrong (Sicklerville, N.J.) placed fourth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.01m.

The meet was not scored for team points.

The Hornets next compete at the Princeton Invitational next Saturday.
