PRINCETON,
N.J. - Senior Tariq Devore
(New York, N.Y.) took the lone gold medal for the Delaware State University men's
indoor track and field team Saturday as he placed first in the 600-meter run at
the Princeton New Year's Invitational.
In his first 600m race of the season, Devore ran a time of 1:20.27. Junior teammate Kevaughn Laviea (Dover, Del.) placed seventh in the race with a
time of 1:23.11.
In the men's 60-meter dash preliminaries, freshman Andre Henry ran a 7.02 to finish fifth
and qualify for the finals. In the
60m finals, he finished third with a time of 7.03.
Fellow freshman Eyong Oma was
the highest DSU finisher in the 300-meter dash with his fifth place finish time
of 35.77.
The men's 4x400 relay squad 'A' did not finish their race as they
posted a false start.
There was no team scoring for the meet.
The Hornets now have off for the winter holiday and do not return
to action until Saturday, Jan. 14 when they compete in the Collegiate Series,
held at the NYC Armory in Manhattan, N.Y.
