MEN?S 4X4 RELAY MISSES NCAA CUT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With the exact same time that gave them an IC4A Championship just two weekends ago, the Delaware State University men's 4x400 relay team finished 15th overall Saturday at the 2012 NCAA East Preliminary at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium and failed to qualify for their fourth straight trip to the NCAA Championships.

The Hornets' season-best time of 3:07.14 was just over half a second short of making the cut.  LSU won the race with a time of 3:03.20.

Running for DSU were juniors Tyquan Brown (Neptune, N.J.), Ryan Carter (Wilmington, Del.), and Tariq Devore (Queens, N.Y.) in addition to senior Donte' Holmes (Hyattsville, Md.).

In addition to the IC4A title, the quartet also clinched a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship earlier this season.

Delaware State sent six student-athletes to the East Preliminary and just Holmes will continue on to the NCAA Championships as he recorded a season-best time of 1:48.33 in Friday's 800m quarterfinal race.  The senior will travel to the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career and will compete on Wednesday, June 6 at 6:15 p.m. in the 800m semifinals in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake Stadium.
