The Lake Forest Cross Country Festival is sanctioned by The National Federation of State High School Athletics and Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association. Please read the following information. To participate, complete the attached entry form and mail it to the indicated address.

Entries must be received no later than Sept 5, 2018. Team roster must be entered on DirectAthletics.com NLT 10 pm Sept 5, 2018. ONLY SUBMIT THE NAMES OF RUNNERS THAT WILL BE PARTICIPATING! IT COST US $$$ WHEN WE HAVE TO PAY FOR NO-SHOWS! Register at DirectAthletics.com and mail your entry form with payment as soon as possible! THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION OR CHANGES!

HISTORY OF THE MEET:
This is the 61st Lake Forest Cross Country Festival. The course is 5,000 meters in length and is the permanently marked course at Killens Pond State Park. This course will be the site of the Lake Forest Cross Country Festival, the Henlopen Conference Cross Country Championships, and on alternating years the Delaware State Cross Country Championships. Either flats or spikes can be used on the course. Schools have been invited from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia,
Pennsylvania, New York, and Washington D.C. Twelve races are offered for all age groups and talent levels. Over the last few years, this event has averaged 1600 to 2000 total participants!

6 RACES (HIGH SCHOOL):
1 Varsity Girls Races: 5,000 meters, YOUR BEST TEAM, no more than seven runners and one team only. (Based on enrollment).
1 Varsity Boys Races: 5,000 meters, YOUR BEST TEAM, no more than seven runners and one team only. (Based on enrollment).
1 Junior Varsity Girls Races: 5,000 meters, YOUR BEST TEAM, no more than seven runners and one team only. (Based on enrollment).
1 Junior Varsity Boys Races: 5,000 meters, YOUR BEST TEAM, no more than seven runners and one team only. (Based on enrollment).
2 Junior Varsity Third Team Races: 5,000 meters, YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THIRD TEAM RACES IF YOUR TEAM IS REPRESENTED IN BOTH THE VARSITY AND JUNIOR VARSITY RACES.

ADDITIONAL RACES:
We will have the Annual Holly A. Hrupsa Memorial Age Group Open Race for eighth graders and below with a race for boys and girls. No team awards will be given and each participant must fill out the attached entry form. See attached entry form for details.

TEAM ROSTER:
All high school coaches must submit the names of athletes to be entered through the an excel spreadsheet emailed to Michelle Kersey at makersey@lf.k12.de.us by 10 PM September 5, 2018.

Please follow the enclosed steps to enter your team roster. We must receive your teams entry and verification form with entry fee to enter the meet NLT September 5, 2018. ONLY SUBMIT THE NAMES OF RUNNERS THAT WILL BE PARTICIPATING! THIS YEARS RACE WILL BE CHIPPED TIME! YOU MUST ENTER THE RUNNERS IN THE RACE THEY WILL PARTICIPATE!

AWARDS: TEAM TROPHIES
The teams finishing first, second, and third in each of the four Varsity and JV races will receive trophies. There are no team trophies awarded in the JV 3rd team races or the Holly A. Hrupsa Memorial Races.

MEDALS:
The first fifteen runners in each of the four Varsity and JV races and first 10 in each of the JV 3rd "A" team races, and the first 20 in each of the Holly A. Hrupsa Memorial Races will receive medals. Our medals are custom designed and made for the Lake Forest Cross Country Festival.

T SHIRTS
Each member of the first, second and third place teams in the four Varsity races will receive t-shirts. No t-shirts will be awarded to the JV teams, JV 3rd Team or the Holly A. Hrupsa Memorial Races. T-shirts will be available for purchase.

ENTRY FEE:
The entry fee is $125 per varsity/$100 JV team entered. Individual entries for the Holly A. Hrupsa Memorial Races are $12.00 each. Make checks payable to Lake Forest High School XC. It is the head coachs responsibility to insure that payment is made prior to the meet.

REGISTRATION & FACILITIES:
Upon arrival, the coach should report to the registration table, which will be open at 9:00 AM. All teams must pick up their race packet by 10:00 AM. Each team is responsible for touring the course on its own. We will not wait for teams to get to the starting line. You are expected to bring your
teams dressed and ready to run. The Lake Forest concession stand will be open and lavatory facilities will be available.

MISCELLANEOUS:
1. NO LATE OR RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
2. The races will run rain or shine. If it is raining, and you would rather not run dont run. NO REFUNDS!!
3. The only reason that we would postpone the races would be severe lightning lasting the entire day. We plan to wait out the storm. Call Fred Johnson or Michelle Kersey before 9 A.M.
4. If a team tie occurs, the highest overall finish of each teams 6th runner will break it.
5. Each coach must instruct their bus driver to park the team bus in the spot assigned by the State Park Ranger responsible for parking.
6. All markings for the course should be passed with most posts on the runners left. When there are
2 posts of the same color, a runner will run between the posts.
7. Modified scoring will be used if a team or teams has less than five finishers. The order of finish will stand for the purpose of speeding up tallying results.
8. All awards will be presented after the last race of the day at the main pavilion.
9. A concession stand will be open in the area under the main pavilion.
10. T-shirts will be available for purchase
11. Spectators driving into the park will be charged an $4.00 entrance fee by the State Park.

12. Course record for boys is held by Steven Garrett, Tatnall H.S. 2013, 15:31. The course record for girls is held by Haley Pierce, Tatnall/Julia Mecedo, Charter, 2011, 17:28.

DIRECTIONS TO KILLENS POND STATE PARK:
The Lake Forest Cross Country Festival (Invitational) is held at Killens Pond State Park. It is located just over a mile off Route 13 and about 2.5 Miles South of Felton, DE. If traveling from the northern part of Delaware travel on Route 13 until you get to Felton, DE, which is located about 10 miles below Dover, DE. Continue past Felton for approximately 2.5 miles looking for signs for Killens Pond State Park, which is on Killens Pond Road (Route 384).

If traveling from the southern part of Delaware travel on Route 13 until you get to Harrington, DE. Harrington is approximately 6 miles from Lake Forest High School, as you pass Harrington look for signs and Killens Pond Road (Route 384). Continue down Killens Pond Road (Route 384) to the State Park. GPS address is 5025 Killens Pond Road, Felton, DE 19943.
