Lady Eagles set to make first ever trip to NCAA Championships

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's cross country team took second overall today at the 2011 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships, qualifying the Lady Eagles for their first ever trip to the National Championships.

The Lady Eagles were led by senior Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell), who was seventh overall and earned All-Region status for the second consecutive year.

Lock Haven put three runners in the top-25 and five in the top-35 to finished second to Shippensburg (50 points). LHU was second with 108 and points and Bloomsburg rounded out the top-three with 134 points, giving the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) all three teams that will head to the NCAA Championships.

Lambert covered the 6K course in 22:27.

Katie Sick (Millville, Pa./Millville) took 11th overall with a time of 22:38.

Corina Robbins (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) was 25th with a time of 23:26.

Joining Lambert as an All-Region was Sick and Robbins by way of their top-25 finish.

Rachel Taylor (Townsend, Del./Smyrna) and Erin Craig (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) were 30th and 35th for Lock Haven today.

The NCAA Championships are set for Saturday, November 19 at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash.
