North Penn, Gardizy dominate; Conboy wins, Great Valley first: Salesianum Invitational Recap

Casey Conboy of Baldwin outdueled Penncrest's Avery Lederer in a race to the line at the Salesianum Invitational in Delaware.

Conboy, who was second at the Uniontown Invite last weekend, ran the fastest time of the day with a 16:32. Lederer had the second fastest time of the day, running 16:35 for second in the Large Schools' division. It's been a steallar start to the season for both runners. Wissahickon's Ben Hoyer was third, Cheltenham's Will Griffen was fourth and Baldwin's Jake Mezeivitch was fifth.

But it was Great Valley taking the win. The Patriots used a 46 second gap, led by top finisher Brett Zatlin (eighth in 17:37), to beat second place Cheltenham by seven points and third place Baldwin by 15 points.

Holy Ghost Prep rolled in the Small Schools' race, scoring 59 points to top second place St. Albans School by 68 points. Callahan Lennon was the top HGP runner across, taking third in 17:05. Peter Borger of Malvern Prep was second in that race in 16:56 to continue his breakthrough season.
