Update on the Middle School XC State Championship Press Release Oct 12, 2010

FLYRA, the Florida Youth Running Association, has been doing a great job with securing some great sponsors in their goal to encourage programs and athletes in the elementary and middle school age bracket to start running.  This is huge for the future of our sport and we should all be encouraging and supporting their efforts.  Here is an update on the meet, a list of what teams have qualified, and a list of the remaining qualifying meets.  Remember anyone can in the age bracket can run in this meet, but to score as a team you must qualify.

24th Annual Capital City Striders Invitational Information Press Release Jun 03, 2010

 

The 24nd Annual CAPITAL CITY STRIDERS INVITATIONAL TRACK MEET WILL BE held on Friday June 11th beginning at 4:30 PM and SATURDAY JUNE  12th  at 8:00 AM in University of Charleston Stadium at LAIDLEY FIELD. The event averages 500 athletes per year and this year features two youth teams from Virginia returning after 10 years and a new participant from Pittsburgh to try and win the First Place Trophy from the home standing Striders.

 

Friday night features a  3K or 2K Steeplechase at 6:00 PM and a on track 5K beginning at 7:00 PM. Other events include the Turbo Javelin Throw and the Triple Jump. Entries are accepted on site the day of the meet or enter on Thursday or Friday night at the Headquarters Hotel, Embassy Suites.

Louisville Track Club to Host Summer Series Press Release Apr 26, 2010

The Louisville Track & Field Club and Fern Creek Track & Field will host their 2nd annual Summer T&F Series in 2010. Below is the Schedule of events.

All Meets start at 6pm on a rolling schedule.  The cost is $2 per event.  Open to all ages.

THE WEST VIRGINIA Amateur Cross Country Championships are to be conducted at Coonskin Park Saturday November 7th , 2009 beginning at 10:00am.
 
The event is sanctioned by both the AAU and USA Track & Field.
 
The top 20 youth individuals and top three teams in each age division qualify for the AAU National Championship meet December 5, 2009 in Orlando, Florida.
 
The top 25 youth individuals and top three teams in each age division qualify for the USATF Regional Championship meet November 21, 2009 at Masterson Station in Lexington, Kentucky. Regional qualifiers (top 12) compete in the USATF National Championships, December 12 n Reno, Nevada.

Vote for Jenny Barringer! Press Release Oct 10, 2009

Oviedo native, Olympian, and Univeristy of Colorado senior Jenny Barringer  needs your support!  She has been nominated for the USATF Jesse Owens Athlete of the Year Award, which goes to the sport's top athletes of the year.  Barringer is the only collegiate athlete that has been nominated this year.  Now if you really want to vote on geographic lines then you should also vote for Kerron Clement (former Florida Gator).  On the women's side Florida native Sanya Richards is also nominated in addition to Barringer.  More info on Barringer and the award inside this article or click here to vote now.

Greater Louisville Classic College Meet Preview Press Release Sep 30, 2009

Louisville, KY- The Greater Louisville Sports Commission (GLSC) will host over 75 colleges and universities from 16 states in the 8th Annual Greater Louisville Classic (GLC),  which local collegiate historians state will be the largest college meet contested in the south- EVER. The Classic, run this Saturday October 3rd, will bring together some of the top college cross country programs in the nation, as over 1,400 athletes are expected to compete at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

Two Day Running Event to Begin the Cross Country Season and Benefit Children with Cancer Press Release Jul 28, 2009

Moeller High School has a long standing tradition of opening up the season with the Henry Jacquez Meet. The races take place on the scenic Landmark Baptist campus which is conveniently located off I-75 in Cincinnati. This two day event offers a competitive course for all local junior high and high school runners. To give back to the community and fulfill their Marianist mission they also host the InsideOut5k. This exciting 5k race is open to the public, both runners and walkers, and all proceeds go to the Kelly Carol Foundation for Children with Cancer. They are a local charity that helps children with cancer and their families.

Spalding Cross Country Introduces Altitude Training Press Release Jun 18, 2009

(June 15, 2009) The Spalding University Athletic Department announces that the cross country program, under the direction of head coach Kevin Alessandro, will introduce simulated altitude training this fall. The facility will offer Spalding students the amenities of a traditional residence hall, while also introducing athletes to simulated altitude stimulus as a part of endurance training segments.
