FELTON — Team championships might not be able to be secured on the first day of a track meet, but vital points toward the entire team scores can be lost due to jitters or just a bad performance.

The Vikings’ Kayla Albertella won the pole vault as she reached 8 feet 9 inches to help her team lead the standings after the first of the two-day Henlopen Conference Championships May 11 and 12.  The Vikings are on top with 40.50 points after five events.
